Chile: Current Hydrogen Projects and Business Potentials (EU H2 WEEK SIDE EVENT)
With its enormous renewable energy potential and ambitious green hydrogen strategy, Chile is considered one of the world’s pioneers in green hydrogen production. The country has a portfolio of over 60 green hydrogen projects. Some of these projects are already under development phase and aiming for long-term offtake agreements. Several European private companies are involved in the development of investment projects for the production of ammonia, e-fuels and the export of renewable hydrogen.
The Project Team Europe for the renewable hydrogen development in Chile (RH2), co-financed by the European Union (UE) and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), is the main vehicle for implementing the Team Europe Initiative for the development of the renewable hydrogen in Chile, which is a jointly effort of the EU and its Member States for boosting the cooperation with Chile in the deployment of its renewable hydrogen economy.
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is one of the implementing agencies of the project which seeks (a) to strengthen the enabling environment for hydrogen development, (b) improve the capacity building and knowledge transfer, (c) boost the technological development, (d) analyze new models for shared infrastructure and sustainability impact assessments, and (e) support the financial closure of investment initiatives and private cooperation.
Join this session hosted by the International PtX Hub and GIZ Team Europe Initiative Project for the Development of Renewable Hydrogen in Chile to learn about current projects, activities and companies active in the green hydrogen and Power-to-X sector in Chile; and to exchange on EU activities and private cooperation with participants and representatives of the Chilean Hydrogen Business Network.
